Manor School Fire Prevention
On Wednesday, October 10th, the volunteer members of the Seaford Fire Department taught fire prevention to the students of the Seaford Manor School. Over 600 students began the day learning about fire safety from Chief of Department, Paul Lochner. The students were taught the need to have an escape plan in the event a fire breaks out in their home. Chief Lochner handed out a homework assignment to all of the students--ask their parents if they have smoke detectors in their homes and if they test them regularly? The need to have fire drills (EDITH--Exit Drills In The Home) was stressed to the children. 1st grader Sean Lochner demonstrated how to Stop, Drop and Roll if their cloths catch fire.
After the assembly each class had the opportunity to go through the EDITH trailer so the students could practice what they had just learned.
Special thanks to the members who helped out during the long day; Chief of Department Paul Lochner, 1st Assistant Chief McIntyre, 2nd Assistant Chief Podesta, Ex-Chief Weeks, Ex-Chief Roth, Honorary Chief Keller, Ex-Captain Bova, FF Walts, FF Hove, FF Skennion, FF O'Keefe, FF Friedel and Rose Lochner of the Ladies Auxiliary.
