SFD Receives Federal Grant
The Seaford Fire Department is proud to announce that it has received a federal grant in the amount of $163,561. The money will be used by the Seaford Fire District to purchase new Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). Some of the SCBA currently in service are nearly 20 years old. The new Scott Air-Pacs will be state of the art and will be capable of protecting the volunteers from the dangers of smoke inhalation, hazardous materials exposure and chemical/biological toxins. It is anticipated that the District will be able to purchase as many as 45 new SCBA's with the grant money, enough to replace every SCBA currently in service. Without the grant money it would have been very difficult for the District to purchase the SCBA all at once.
The SFD applied four separate times for the grant before being finally being successful. The Board of Fire Commissioners, the Chief's office of the Seaford Fire Department.
