What the Explorers do.... The Seaford Fire Department Explorers train along side the firefighters and medics of the Seaford Fire Department and get hands on experience with the tools, techniques, and equipment used by the department. Explorers learn about hose handling, ladders, surface rescue, the Jaws of Life, Haz Mat, first aid, and many other skills needed to become a successful firefighter or fire medic. With the training an explorer gains, he or she can join the department as a firefighter or fire medic.
Requirements: The Seaford Fire Department Explorers consists of young men and women, ages 14-17, who have an interest in the fire service. Applicants must live in the vicinity of the Seaford Fire District. They must be of good mental, physical, and good moral character, and willing to volunteer time and effort.
Meetings/Application: Currently, the Seaford Fire Department Explorers meet the second Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at Seaford Fire Dept. headquarters. If you are interested in becoming an Explorer, or would like more information, please stop by the fire house on the second Monday, or on any Wednesday night at 7:30.
